A golf morning worth sharing
Ten-year-old Aurora heads to the course with Dad, hoping for her best round yet. Then she meets Nia, who has never played. A stubborn ball in a bunker puts Aurora’s patience to the test—and a promise to her new friend reminds her how much fun a day on the green can be.
This illustrated story is about welcoming someone new, finding another way when a shot goes wrong, and enjoying time together. The adventure is fictional, inspired by Aurora’s real love of golf.
She helped make this book her own
My daughter Aurora helped edit the story and review the pictures. She asked for it to start with “My name is Aurora,” spotted details in the golf equipment, and made sure Dad stood safely away from her swing.
The questions at the end were her idea, too: a way for children and their grown-ups to imagine a golf adventure together.
Start a conversation together
You don’t need to know golf to enjoy the story with your child. Here are three questions from the book:
- Would you rather send a ball flying or try rolling it into the hole?
- Your ball misses the hole—oops! What would you try next?
- Who would you bring on a golf adventure? What snack would you pack?
Then try one small adventure
Ask a local course about a beginner lesson or a chance to try putting, and whether your child can borrow a club that fits. Take turns, cheer each other on, and leave room for another try.
